Self-Mailer

URBANO purchased a top notch self-mailer machine, which will allow our customers to have a great alternative to the use of traditional envelops, decreasing their costs and processing times. The self-mailer equipment converts documents using different templates into folded, sealed or stamped envelopes ready for distribution. The machine speed allows an average processing of 4000 documents per hour, in A4 format, which is highly functional for processes that do not require inserts.

Urbano Collaborates With Quito And Its Cultural Offer

Aware of our responsibility towards the community, URBANO began an agreement with the Quito Museums Foundation in order to assist and facilitate logistic processes such as transportation of Art pieces or processes that relate to invitations to art exhibits. We are convinced that if more Quiteños learn and enjoy what the main museums of the city have to offer, their life quality will increase. This is why we give all our capacity and knowledge towards this important cause. URBANO collaborates, through the Quito Museums Foundation, with art exhibits in all of the city’s museums, among which we have the Contemporary Art Center, the City Museum, the Metropolitan Art Center, among other important cites. Some of the exhibitions in which URBANO has participates are the Mariano Aguilera Art Exhibit and the exposition Alma Mia.

Hector Martinez, SEMANAECONOMICA Interview

Entrevista a Hector Martínez

Hector Martínez, Director of Abraaj Peru, was interviewed by SEMANAeconómica, regarding his investments in Peru.  With respect to the investment on and vision of Urbano Express Peru, he said:

"What plans do you have for your recent acquisition, Urbano Express?"
"Urbano is a postal delivery enterprise that works a lot with banks.  However it has developped capabilities of light logistics (parcels&packages).  We are empowering this line and focusing on making it an e-commerce line.  Today  e-commerce is growing so much that department stores invest majorly on online sales and need someone to deliver their packages in 24 hours, as UPS does in the United States. And for companies such as UPS it is very difficult to enter Perú because of the investment needed in order to deliver nationwide.  Urbano has 25 agencies nationwide and reaches 85% of the population.  We have to take advantage of this platform with technology, which we already have."

Improvements In The National Infraestructure

Last January 2013, URBANO inaugurated its new Logistics facility in Quito. The new infrastructure duplicates the space used in the prior location. The functionality and location of the plant allows us to have a direct access to our customers. The security levels are optimal and guarantee the proper storage of our customers’ merchandize. At the same time, they optimize our work environment. Furthermore, the plant meets all technical norms required by control entities. In May 2013, we relocated to our new offices in Cuenca. The new plant allows us to have a strong presence in the third city of the country. Being located in the city’s perimeter grants us a quick and timely access to our customers. The internal distribution of Postal and Logistics areas is functional and allows us to execute daily activities with safety and efficiency. Loading and unloading during the night meets the highest security levels.

Acknowledgment

A few weeks ago, two traditional Banks of the city, Unibanco and Solidario merged their operations together. This event generated a series of process backups; one of them was the generation of information for their customers account statements. URBANO assisted them with its knowledge and contingency plan to mitigate the delay generated. This week, executives of the banks visited URBANO to acknowledge and thank us for the effective support received during this transition.
